Most treatment plans involve an initial treatment followed by a second appointment to build up the pigment colour. Perdonidic touch-up sessions will be required as the pigments used are designed to fade over time. If there is scarring then additional sessions may be required to treat the scar tissue prior to micropigmentation.  

On average, the results usually last around 3-5 years. For the best and long lasting results, you would be required to return for the colour to be topped up. There are a number of factors that can affect how long your results last for:
- Medication
- Sun exposure
- Skin type (dryness, oiliness, sun damage, thickness, colour)
- Alcohol intake
- Smoking
- Illness
 - Swimming (chlorine can bleach the colour from the tattoo) 

This varies from person-to-person as everyone’s pain threshold is different. Some clients feel some discomfort and a scratchy sensation, yet others don’t feel anything at all.

Your technician will give you all of the appropriate aftercare in full after your treatment. You may experience some swelling/redness for up to 48 hours after your treatment. During the healing process you will experience some scabbing of the area. Please do not pick at the area as this may risk infection or pulling pigment out of the area. Try to keep the area as dry as possible during the healing process. We recommend you do not swim, sunbathe or use a sauna/jacuzzi for 2 weeks after the procedure.  

Areola tattooing is available on the NHS for post-mastectomy patients, but waiting times can be long, and availability depends on your local NHS trust. For other reasons - such as gender-affirming surgery, cosmetic breast surgery scars, or birth defects - the treatment is not typically covered, meaning you will need to seek private treatment.
